Mountainside Townhomes in Wolf Laurel Best Deal in WNC

I write a lot on my blog about great deals on real estate in western North Carolina. I only write about places that I believe are truly extra-ordinary. In the past I have sung the praises of a variety of townhome communities and new construction communities. I know a good deal when I see it. But I have seen nothing until now.

A little over a week ago, I met Randy Blankenship and Toni Cunningham from Beverly-Hanks in Weaverville up at Wolf Laurel. Wolf Laurel is a beautiful place, but over the years NOT one that I recommended because it simply took too long to get out there. All of that has changed with future I-26 going within 3 miles of Wolf Laurel. Now you can live in Wolf Laurel and make easy and quick trips to Weaverville and Asheville. It is not an isolated community any longer, although once on the mountain, you still get the feeling of being far away, in an enchanted mountain wonderland.

There are lots of properties you can buy in Wolf Laurel, but none of them are crafted using the type of qualified materials as Mountainside Townhomes. Wil Coudriet and Henry Hancock (along with architect Wayne Roberts) had a unique vision for Mountainside Townhomes. There are a lot of beautiful homes in the Asheville area, yes. There are some affordable townhomes around Asheville, yes. But not until I walked into Unit 19 Mountainside Trail did I know a thing about luxury living or quality construction.

This is for sure. Mountainside Townhomes is green and eco-friendly. There are gorgeous maple floors, ceramic floors, and three levels of luxury living. The countertops in the kitchen are granite and all appliances are top notch. There are real maple cabinets. The bathrooms are astonishingly luxurious. I have never seen bathrooms constructed in a way that pays such attention to detail and comfort.

For me, I like to have a big great room with big windows so I can see out and high ceilings so I don't feel like I'm being squashed in some man cave. Man, Mountainside Townhomes has huge cathedral ceilings in the great room and that isn't all-- the cathedral ceilings are pine and pose as a work of art unto themselves.

Although the master bedroom is on the main level, there is a very nice elevator in this unit. As we get older (and I am in that category), it is nice to know that the home will accommodate future needs of getting around.

Usually I jabber on and on about the area. The builders of Mountainside Townhomes live in Wolf Laurel, so they are true believers. They say, "Wolf Laurel is the steak, but Mountainside Townhomes are the sizzle." I can't stop thinking about the sizzle. I am considering buying one of these homes because they are currently being offered at very competitive prices.

But I would be remiss if I didn't talk a little bit about Wolf Laurel and the Country Club and Ski Community there. Wolf Laurel Country Club is an awesome community that offers lots of opportunities for socializing. But it is a true four-seasons community in that you have swimming (the swimming pool is located next to the cafe' and is high atop a mountain perch with amazing views year round), horseback riding, hiking (yes, the AT cuts through Wolf Laurel and is within walking distance from Mountainside Townhomes), skiing at Wolf Ridge Ski Resort, birdwatching, fishing, and best of all-- golfing. I did a little golfing while I was there and I had a hard time paying attention to golf when I was so taken away with the amazing views. One of the guys I was with told me that Wolf Laurel has the most variance in elevation than any course in the eastern United States. Who wouldn't want to live in a community with all of this? A crazy person.

I was on a fishing expedition for two clients from Vermont. They want to keep themselves in a similar setting where they live now, but they want to move south and avoid the longer winters that are wearing on them. They don't want any maintenance (and they won't get it with Mountainside Townhomes), but they want to live somewhere their adult children's families will want to visit.

The Mrs. is big into art and crafts and she was delighted to know that Mars Hill is less than 10 minutes away, as well as Weaverville and its famous Art Safari. Not to mention Asheville being the east coast's cultural mecca. They are sold and planning a trip down to make this thing permanent in about two months. There has been a huge increase in interest in Mountainside Townhomes and the prices are truly competitive. For all you get, you might expect to pay over $1,000,000. But the homes start at $500,000 and go up to nearly $800,000. The price differences are due mostly to whether or not they have an elevator (all homes are three levels and have garages), 3 or 4 bedrooms and baths.

These are the people you need to call to make an appointment to view these beautiful homes: Toni Cunningham at 828-645-1934 or cell 828-208-4248 or Randy Blankenship at 828-645-1935 or cell at 828-712-6525.

Feel free to email me if you want to know more information about what I saw while I was there. These homes at these prices are precisely the reason this economy is good for some. Don't let this opportunity pass you by. There are lots of places in this area that are similarly-priced and they say they have amenities, but those amenities may not be in place for YEARS. Wolf Laurel is an older well-established community and country club. Oh, almost forgot, Wil Coudriet said he might throw in a year's social membership to Wolf Laurel Country Club to people who purchase homes in early 2010. What a deal! www.mountainsidetownhomes.com for more information.
